Springsteen On Broadway

★★★★★   out of 5

Bruce Springsteen delivers a monumental album that showcases his songwriting.

Bruce Springsteen shows that his biographical stage show makes for a uniquely powerful concert album. When Springsteen released his autobiography 'Born To Run' in 2016, it paved the way for the subsequent Springsteen on Broadway musical. Springsteen played guitar and piano, performing his music, restating incidents from his biography. Springsteen stated, "I wanted to do some shows that were as personal and as intimate as possible. My show is just me, the guitar, the piano, and the words and music." Springsteen selected songs from Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J., Born in the U.S.A., The Rising, Tracks, Magic, Nebraska, Born to Run, Darkness on the Edge of Town, Wrecking Ball, and Tunnel of Love. Springsteen changed several songs starting in October 2017 swapping songs in and out.

On June 10, 2018, Springsteen received a special Tony Award for Springsteen on Broadway.
