CHRIS DAUGHTRY

No matter how many times a person has seen Daughtry, the band proves they know how to entertain, and everyone knows they are in for a good show. Just like a fine wine, this band keeps getting better with age.

Daughtry brought their rocking show to Casino Rama in Orillia, Ontario. Once again, Daughtry pleased the fans with a balance of old and new material. In comparison to the Atlantic City show, the house lighting was not as sharp.

The band, featuring Chris Daughtry on lead vocals, rhythm, and lead guitar is rounded out with Brandon Maclin on drums, Brian Craddock on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, Elvio Fernandes on keyboards, guitar, and backing vocals, Josh Paul on bass guitar and backing vocals and Josh Steely on guitar and backing vocals.

Daughtry kicked off the show with “Just Found Heaven,” which was strong, with a haunting ominous intro. Elvio Fernandes and Chris Daughtry performed “Drive” as a tribute to the late Ric Ocasek of the band The Cars.

Chris emphasizes to everyone to be strong and to have a backbone, stating, “We all fall on hard times, and we have to stand up and have a backbone” before starting the song. Elvio showed his strong backing vocals trading harmonies with Chris.

Chris slowed it down, alone on acoustic guitar, for “Home,” asking everyone to light up the auditorium with their cell phones. That vibe continued with the new single “As You Are,” which is an emotional song close to Chris Daughtry’s heart that was written with his wife, Deanna.

The band finished the evening with “Waiting for Superman,” followed by the infectious “September.” Then the band paid tribute to the late music icon Prince with a cover of “Purple Rain,” showing Chris’ vocal range trading musical notes with Josh Steely on the Prince classic.
