Heart 'Love Alive' Tour

July 14, 2019 Budweiser Stage, Toronto  Ontario

                                                                                                                                                                                                              Review by Michael Oshust

Heart announced a 39-city "Love Alive Tour" which started in St. Louis on July 9. Support throughout the tour will come from Sheryl Crow, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Brandi Carlile, Elle King and Lucie Silvas. "I think the tour will spark some positive new energy as we rediscover some of our iconic songs and also some fan favourites," Nancy Wilson stated at the time of the tour's announcement.

Elle King opened the show, and it was the first show for her with Heart. During her set, you could see the trouble with audio and guitar feeds. The house system was not balanced, and her vocals could not compete with the instruments. We would have preferred to hear her raspy voice without any problems.

Sheryl Crow came on, and the audio system seemed a bit better, but was still not balanced. Crow sang crowd favourites "All I Wanna Do", "Leaving Las Vegas" and "Strong Enough."

Heart opened with "Rockin' Heaven Down" from the band's 1980 album 'Bebe le Strange' and continued into a catalogue-spanning set which included 1993's "Back to Avalon." Heart's set included songs by Marvin Gaye, Pink Floyd, Simon and Garfunkel and Yes.

Ann Wilson's performance was spectacular. The audience could feel her passion in every note she sang especially during "Alone." Nancy Wilson's vocals were spot on, and she proved she can rock with her infamous kick during "Crazy on You."

For fans who have attended several Heart shows, there were several popular songs not included in the set such as "Dreamboat Annie," "Heartless," and "Kick It Out."
