MUSIC FAN EXPO 2019
Convention Centre Mississauga, Ontario
✮✮✮✮✮ (out of 5) Review by Michael Oshust
Music Fan Expo 2019 was featured as 'meet, get an autograph, or snap a photo' with your favorite musician or music business individuals. Artists included Michael Hanson of Glass Tiger, Brian Byrne of I Mother Earth, Gord Deppe of The Spoons, Peter Fredette of the Kim Mitchell Band, Matt Zaddy a great songwriter, Steve Marshall of Teenage Head, and many more. The event was sponsored by TorontoJobs.ca and TorontoEntrepreneurs.ca.
Usually, fans would think that they cannot meet their favourite artist from the '80s, or get an autograph and a photo with them. Music Fan Expo 2019 gave the fans the opportunity to meet and talk to artists, songwriters, broadcasters, authors, songwriters and more. There were vinyl LPs to choose from, radio station DJ's, framed posters and guitars on display. The show had something for everyone and had one common theme; to connect and inspire music lovers.
Scanning through the merchant tables brought an unusually upbeat tone from people who attended. I stood there listening to Brian Byrne discuss the FIX App, and how it is an exciting new way to transform how fans interact with artists and artists communicate with fans around the world. Then I hear legendary Alan Cross talk about his show and the "The Ongoing History of New Music." I had the opportunity to interview Jeff Woods and Michael Hanson. Both individuals showed that the fans are vital as they said greeted everyone that stopped for an autograph, a souvenir or a photo.
Walking around there is so much to see and look at. Carparelli Guitars offers guitarists fine crafted instruments and knowledge from the exhibitors. Sunrise Records offered vinyl LPs, and Frameworth Music offered fans framed posters of their favourite artists.
Looking at the fans as they greeted the artists made me smile as I can sense how happy they were
